Under Construction – New Positions in American Photography was a group exhibition featuring ten young American and Canadian visual artists that was presented in Foam in 2014. The group exhibition featured works by Sara VanDerBeek, Lucas Blalock, Joshua Citarella, Jessica Eaton, Daniel Gordon, Owen Kydd, Matt Lipps, Matthew Porter and Kate Steciw. Under Construction travelled to Pioneer Works in New York in 2015 where the work of Sara Cwynar was also included.

Exerpt from the introduction text: “Even though the results of the artists’ individual practices are very diverse, the mentality, methodology and presentation of their work show a number of remarkable similarities. A key characteristic is the investigative attitude they adopt in looking at the photographic image and its representation. All the featured artists are explicitly engaged in a fundamental reassessment of the value and significance of photography in the early 21st century.”
